Sat and Sun quieted back down and we had a couple of sail bites and caught a couple of dolphin each day. We're doing engine work through Wed. but hope to get back out Thurs. I'm looking forward to getting Capt Chuck and some Gaff Girls out on Saturday for some sailfish action!

A Billfisherman's Favorite Time of Year

As the weather cools and the seas run larger the best fishing of the year is just around the corner. The early season cold fronts have moved a few sailfish our way but the best is certainly yet to come. We've been catching some nice dolphin and seeing a sailfish or 2 per trip. Given the conditions I fully expect to really get into the sails one day soon. The northerly make for great fishing conditions and keep the waters off Stuart from being overly crowded. This past weekends action was best in about 200 feet where the water cleaned up. We're trolling ballyhoo with a couple of dredges just under the surface to bring the sails and dolphin up int the spread. We do alot of different types of fishing throughout the year off of Stuart but this is my favorite! Challenge Sportfishing in Stuart is a 51' Bertram that my mate, Jim Hardee and I keep at the Hutchinson Island Marriot Marina. I appreciate the oppurtunity to participate with the Gaff crew and look forward to hearing from folks who love to fish.
